One of the obvious benefits of the increasing demand and requirement for pay transparency in job postings is that candidates can ensure that their salary expectations are somewhat aligned with the position's compensation. However, even providing a salary range for a job does not negate the possibility or attempt of a salary negotiation at the time of an offer by the applicant or the hiring company. This article published by Fast Company suggests that implementing a non-negotiation policy actually increases pay equity, as women and people of color generally have not been as comfortable and confident negotiating. A non-negotiation policy may also reduce anxiety about the "social cost" as far as how a new hire may be perceived and treated by their manager as a result of difficult conversations in negotiations. Negotiating salaries and being unsure of your position as the interview process comes to a close can be time-consuming and stressful on both sides. Having a non-negotiation policy in place may truly be the win-win scenario.
