AVIXA’s story begins in 1939 as the National Association of Visual Education Dealers (NAVED). Over the decades, it evolved—merging and changing names—through NAVA, ICIA, and, since 2005, InfoComm International, until adopting its current name in 2017 to reflect a comprehensive focus on audiovisual experiences.

Today, AVIXA is a global association with more than 20,000 members in 80 countries, driving standards, certifications (such as CTS), training, and international trade shows. One of these is InfoComm, the largest professional audiovisual exhibition in North America.

In 2025, InfoComm Latin America will take its first step in Mexico City. Organized by AVIXA, it will bring together manufacturers, integrators, distributors, and end users in a high-level regional platform. This event represents a key milestone in AVIXA’s strategy to strengthen the Latin American market, which reached US $14 billion in Pro AV spending in 2024. The sector is projected to sustain annual growth, with a compounded rate of 4.8% through 2030.

In this article, we spoke with Rodrigo Casassus Coke, CTS, Senior Director for Latin America at AVIXA, who tells us how this new show fits into the organization’s evolution, what impact it will have in the region, and why it represents a historic opportunity for the Latin American audiovisual ecosystem.

A Growing Region: Why Now?

According to Rodrigo, the decision to launch a Latin American edition of InfoComm responds to a strategic context. When you look at global indicators, Latin America stands out as one of the few regions with a clear growth projection. While the United States and Canada show stability or even decline, we went from 2% to 2.5% between 2024 and 2026. That’s 25% growth in two years,” he explained.

The interest of global brands in this market is no accident. From large manufacturers to regional distributors, they are looking toward Mexico and the rest of the continent as key expansion zones, even relocating investments from other regions.

Adoption of AV Technologies in Latin America

However, not all is growth. The adoption of audiovisual technologies in the region continues to face structural challenges. Historically, in Latin America it has been harder to understand that cheap is not always better. Often the lowest budget is chosen without considering long-term planning, and that takes its toll,” Rodrigo says.

A lack of adequate infrastructure remains a barrier. We find companies that installed new systems five years ago and today can't update their equipment because they don't have the necessary network or wiring. That’s why these types of shows help: they educate, update, show what’s coming, and why it's worth investing with future vision.”

Artificial Intelligence at the Center of the Conversation

Artificial intelligence is another key topic that will shape the agenda at InfoComm Latin America. Although the popularization of AI came with tools like ChatGPT, in the AV industry it has long existed in products like intelligent cameras, echo cancellation, directional microphones, and automated diagnostics.

What has changed now is efficiency. We already had AI in our solutions, but today everything works much better, faster, and with fewer errors. Now, for example, a system can detect where the voice is and mute the rest without human intervention,” he emphasized.

Booming Verticals: Education, Corporate, and More

The vertical sectors driving the growth of the audiovisual market in Latin America are aligned with global trends. Education and corporate continue to lead, with estimated investments of US $1.5 billion and US $2.9 billion in Latin America by 2025, respectively. These are joined by areas such as live events, broadcast, and entertainment, which also show notable dynamism. Top universities in the region have nothing to envy in the United States, at least in terms of experience quality. Maybe they don’t invest in a million-dollar screen, but they achieve equally innovative results with creative solutions,” Rodrigo commented.

Some specific sectors, such as mining in Chile or financial technology in Mexico, also show a high level of technological adoption, positioning the region as fertile ground for advanced audiovisual solutions.

What to Expect at the Event: Exhibitors, Formats, and Experiences

InfoComm Latin America 2025 will take place at the World Trade Center in Mexico City and will feature over 60 exhibitors and around 100 represented brands. The event format includes exhibition floor, demo rooms, manufacturer training spaces, and the Congreso AVIXA (AVIXA Congress), with content in Spanish specifically tailored to the regional audience.

In addition, immersive experiences will be offered. We will have a room with ultra-high-end hi-fi audio equipment for Home Theater, with brands like Bowers & Wilkins. And another proposal focused on corporate wellness, with sensory relaxation spaces and technology applied to well-being,” the AVIXA Latin America director said.

Certifications and Continuing Education

Although the CTS certification exams will not be held inside the trade show venue, AVIXA will offer pre-show training at external facilities. A certification program in partnership with the organization SAVE on technology recycling and reuse will also be presented.

We want InfoComm Latin America to be more than a show: to be a meeting point to educate, certify, do business, and directly experience the future of professional audiovisual. It will be an unmissable edition!” he emphasized.

A Long-Term Commitment

The 2025 edition is not an isolated action, but part of a sustained plan. We are here to stay. The big brands have already understood this. Companies like Cisco, Disney Cruise Line, and many others are interested. We are close to 90% of exhibition floor occupancy and continue to add exhibitors,” Rodrigo reported.

The AVIXA Congress, meanwhile, also returns home. Born in Latin America during the pandemic as a virtual platform, this year it returns in person with specialized content and top-level speakers.

InfoComm Latin America 2025 thus emerges as the ideal stage to explore the present and future of the sector, where technological innovation, applied knowledge, and business opportunities will come together to transform the industry in the region.
