It would be simplistic to point out the effect of education on human evolution. It is obvious that the creation of schools, leading to the organized teaching of content and later to the specialization of knowledge, has driven the social and financial evolution of humanity. Basically, we moved from a private or personal model of family education, where children learned at home with their parents or tutors, to an outsourcing of teaching in schools, which created the scale that enabled society’s global advancement.

In some ways, this reminds me of what we are experiencing today in the AV industry. Companies still operate like small families that train their “children” at home. This probably happens because no one has yet managed to create a school or an organized outsourcing of knowledge for the sector. Industries such as engineering, IT, and communications have already gone down this path, and I believe our time is coming. There are successful examples, but still on a regional scale, which do not meet the demands of the global market.

Let’s explore the benefits of outsourcing knowledge for onboarding and talent development in the AV industry.

The first major challenge faced by companies in the sector is structuring teams prepared for onboarding, creating scalable and replicable processes, and adapting the training language for different roles, from the least technical to the most advanced. Additionally, presenting the audio and video market and its fundamental concepts in a fluent and motivating way is essential to engage new talents, but this is rarely done consistently.

By outsourcing onboarding and training, companies can rely on specialists who organize universal processes, segmented by area of expertise, function, and depth level. This allows for a smoother and more engaging entry for new employees or those transitioning careers, accelerating integration and making them productive more quickly.

Another fundamental point is the standardization and updating of content. When training is outsourced, it becomes the provider’s main focus, who can dedicate time and resources to ensure that the knowledge delivered is always aligned with the best practices in the sector, unlike when training is just one more task among many within the company.

From a financial perspective, the greatest benefit is freeing up experienced employees for the roles they were hired for, avoiding diverting them to training or presentation activities for which they often lack preparation or interest. This reduces hidden costs, increases efficiency, and improves the return on investment in people.

Outsourcing also opens space for more inclusive, diverse, and accessible training processes. By designing programs focused on practical application, it is possible to address different profiles, knowledge levels, and accessibility needs, promoting diversity and engagement at all levels of the organization.

A specialized company can accelerate the learning curve of new talents by creating specific metrics for each stage of the audience, personalizing content, and increasing engagement and productivity among employees.

Naturally, there are risks and resistance. The initial hiring cost can be a barrier, but it can be overcome with affordable subscription models. There is also the concern that the company’s culture and values may not be reflected in the training. However, by focusing on knowledge applicable to the AV industry, the process allows each company to imprint its values on the practical application of what is learned.

Outsourcing also facilitates the measurement of results and the monitoring of employee development through clear metrics such as courses completed, time spent, engagement, and practical application of content, allowing for continuous adjustments and improvements.

Another benefit is freeing up internal leaders and specialists to focus on strategic activities, innovation, and management, while transparently monitoring employee development and aligning learning with the company’s career plan.

Finally, although there are still no consolidated cases of outsourced onboarding and training in the AV industry on a global scale, this is a visionary trend with the potential to revolutionize talent development and scale education in the sector.

Outsourcing onboarding and talent development is not just an operational solution, but a strategic step for the future of the AV industry. By adopting this model, companies prepare themselves to grow, innovate, and compete in an increasingly dynamic and demanding market.
