Earlier in March, AVIXA hosted its first Linkedin Live Audio event. The topic revolved around the digital workplace with special guest speakers @Sharath Abraham , @Alesia Hendley , and @Chanan Averbuch hosted by @Gibran Nassif.  Some of you might have missed this event, so here is the recap listing 5 main points discussed during the live event.

  1. Increased Collaboration: AV technology is becoming essential for collaboration in the digital workplace. With the rise of remote work and virtual meetings, AV technology is enabling teams to collaborate in real time from different locations. AV integrators will continue to work with the IT industry on developing secure solutions when it comes to digital collaboration.

  2. Integration with IoT: The integration of AV technology with IoT (Internet of Things) devices is likely to accelerate. This will allow for seamless control of AV systems, lighting, temperature, and other building systems.

  3. AI-powered AV: Artificial intelligence (AI) is expected to revolutionize AV technology in the digital workplace. AI-powered AV systems will be able to recognize speech and gestures, adjust lighting and temperature, and even anticipate users' needs.

  4. Immersive Experiences: As VR (Virtual Reality) and AR (Augmented Reality) technology become more sophisticated, AV systems will increasingly be used to create immersive experiences in the digital workplace. This will enhance training, product demonstrations, and remote collaboration. Sharath Abahram stated that companies should spend time researching and learning before incorporating these technologies.

  5. Cloud-Based AV: Cloud-based AV solutions are becoming increasingly popular in the digital workplace as they provide greater flexibility, scalability, and accessibility. Cloud-based AV systems can be accessed from anywhere with an internet connection, enabling teams to collaborate and communicate seamlessly.

Overall, AV technology will continue to evolve rapidly as the digital workplace becomes increasingly important. The integration of AV technology with other digital tools and platforms will be critical to maximizing its impact on productivity, collaboration, and innovation. Companies would still need to plan and research these new technologies to help create engagement and productivity in the digital workplace.

A really big topic right now is how generative AI is expected to change the AV industry. I think AI-assisted technologies will really revolutionize and streamline many processes. And help when it comes to virtual meetings. With new capabilities to automatically process data and assist during the meeting itself (such as noise cancellation capabilities) etc., virtual interaction will become even more meaningful and communication more effective.

I’m curious to see what trainings will look like using VR and AR. I remember doing a training using the Microsoft HoloLens, an augmented reality /mixed reality headset, where you were still able to see your surroundings (unlike traditional VR methods) but can also see digital imageries all around you. Instead of using controllers, you were able to simply use your hands. And the automatic eye tracking established your intent. I can see tools like this being amazing when it comes to manufacturing and training. I am excited to see where the future goes!
