AV for Sports Industry in India with Cricket Prospective
A recurring theme in my discussions with AVIXA partners is how everyone tends to fall into pro AV from a wide variety of places: marketing, broadcast, IT, facilities and more! Ultimately, we learn about the industry and its many areas through emulation, and Xchange has been a great resource for that mantra.
Community and discourse are both needed now more than ever. Bias can leave us in our own bubbles, and being able to connect globally with pro AV leaders can help us breakthrough in an ever-growing technological landscape.
While making my rounds to the various AVIXA councils this month, below are some examples of my hands-on wins on Xchange:
AVIXA Xchange offers an even playing field in the pro AV industry for tech managers like me to network with like-minded leaders while learning about the latest trends from the industry, oftentimes straight from the sources themselves. The Tech Managers Council and their Xchange room has been a HUGE resource for me as someone who pivoted to pro AV from marketing. The mix of higher ed and nonprofit leaders is relevant to my role supporting AV for a trade association. I learn something new every month!
The biggest fruit has been sitting under the learning tree of pro AV movers and shakers from a wide range of generations, experiences, and cultures. With my exposure on AVIXA Xchange, I was humbled to be invited to speak at my first panel at InfoComm which was a true testament to AVIXA's influence on the industry. This led to a fruitful trip to Texas this past summer, connecting with AV leaders from groups like Marketscale and AV Launchpad. I was able to learn not only about their solutions, but the pro AV industry's growth in the region.
As someone from Asian descent, a side quest of mine has been to bring AV skills formation to my motherland: The Philippines. Through AVIXA’s leadership and Xchange, I’ve been able to plant seeds with contacts in the APAC region. These connections have aided in learning more about the economic landscape and workforce needs when it comes to pro AV. A model like Loop Lab in Boston (that provides education and formation to similar populations) would be a perfect fit for developing Asian countries to equip top-talent with the latest and greatest in technology. Going forward, I seek to promote movements like these in the Diversity Council room to garner feedback from those with similar backgrounds.
With that in mind, let’s continue our conversation this month with the Diversity Council as we discuss the art of inclusivity. Registration is FREE and the panel will be super fun and engaging!
