Interesting pls how can africans benefit AVIXA generally that will apply to all african country
Thank you for raising a thoughtful point — we’ll definitely take it up. I understand the AV industry is still growing across Africa, and through AVIXA, Africans can gain access to training, networking opportunities, and hopefully more physical presence in various countries soon.
Good article Racheal -- Queue management is very big in all verticals of self-service. From more complex patient check-in to "take a number". Visitor check-in are often using live people to make for even better customer service. Faced with computerized programmed helpdesk, the first thought is to how to get around it and get a real person.
One of my tricks for phone CRMs is to speak gobbleygook when asked a question, deliberately. The AI gives up quickly and routes me to a person right away. No need to navigate 3 levels of descending hell hierarchy only to learn the very last number they offer is the one you want :-)
Looking at my SLED services, I see today 900 RFPs worth $9B with an average value of $21 million. It extends into visitor management. You can have 100 vendors a day "check-in" at local medical facility pushing some product. In SLED space it is very important to provide accessibility options like approved braille and tactile info. Technology like touchless and using voice are helpful.
See https://kioskindustry.org for kiosk specific check-in and wayfinding
Thank you. Indeed queue management and visitor management is really broad and interesting. I will check out kiosk industry too.
Absolutely agree, modern workspaces are increasingly recognizing that mental health isn’t just a personal matter, but a critical part of workplace culture. Supporting employees with the space and resources they need not only helps prevent burnout, but also builds trust and boosts productivity. It’s encouraging to see more companies shifting toward a people-first approach rather than the old mindset of overworking and overlooking well-being.
When employees feel understood and supported, they show up more engaged, creative, and committed. Thank you @Summer Campagna for sharing.
I couldn't agree more with Rachael insights. But you need a company that invest in the well-being of their employees. A company success can be measured by the happiness of its employee. If they are happy, they will feel motivated to stay and thrive for the company. On of the latest trends that my manager has introduced is Happynomics. With this new methodology, we focus on what factors influence it, and how it can be used to make better policy decisions.
Absolutely! A company that invests in the well-being of its employees is more likely to thrive. Thank you and happy for you @Sara Quarantelli . I'll definitely take some time to read more about Happynomics. Sounds like a powerful approach!
@Racheal Aye, CTS this is such a powerful post, and yes, "if you have a brain, you are at risk..." is very true, and it's a great way to put things in perspective. I feel fortunate that I work with leadership who understands that we're all human, and that everyone is dealing with things outside of work we might not be aware of. It makes it easier to model this behavior myself. A little bit of kindness in tough situations goes a long way!
Thank you @Dana Jelter - AVIXA for the comment. Happy to hear that your work is prioritizing your mental well being.
I'm truly excited and honored to be an Xchange Advocate!
A big thank you to @Lisa Matthews, CTS - AVIXA @Benedict Onodu. CTS.MBCS @Alexis Bou Farhat, CTS-D, CTS-I @Matt Pana and all the amazing advocates—I look forward to connecting and hopefully meeting you all in person one day.
Coming from a region where AV is still a relatively new field, being part of the Xchange community has been invaluable. It keeps me up to date with the latest AV trends and equips me with the knowledge and tools to simplify and promote AV within my community.
Let’s keep learning, connecting, and growing together!
You are correct. Modern Voice Alarm (EVAC) systems are designed with advanced capabilities that allow them to effectively perform both Public Address (PA) and emergency evacuation functions.
EVAC systems can be configured to handle routine announcements, background music, and paging, similar to what traditional PA systems offer, without compromising their core role in emergency communication. This dual functionality is made possible through intelligent priority management and system zoning, which allow the system to switch modes automatically and override non-critical messages in the event of an emergency.
In summary, a properly designed EVAC system not only fulfills all the functions of a traditional PA system but also ensures compliance with life-safety requirements. It offers a scalable, cost-effective, and future-proof solution that enhances both the operational and safety standards of any facility.
Thank you Stephen for reading and your comment is very educative.
I love this @Racheal Aye, CTS ! It's always nice to see different sides of the industry, especially for people who are interested in learning about the different career paths they can take!
Thank you @Dana Jelter - AVIXA indeed AV is so broad and interesting.
