I am a 1st Camera Assistant who lives in Atlanta, Georgia. I began working in the film industry in the early 2000’s while attending University of Georgia. I traveled a lot while studying abroad in Spain and Mexico, acquiring a fluency of Spanish language and Latin culture. I am a ten year member of the International Cinematographers Guild. In 2006, I moved to New York City and began to brand myself as Nicky Dollars while working on film crews for TV shows and commercial productions. I also began shooting independent films and corporate video for brands like Intel and Best Buy. In 2013 I joined ICG Local 600 and began working as a camera assistant on the iconic Saturday Night Live, which led me into the world of scripted television. In 2016 I returned to Atlanta. My most recent credits are DMZ (HBO, B Camera 1st AC), Naomi (the CW, B Camera 1st AC), Kindred (Hulu, B Camera 1st AC), The Oval: Season 6 (A Camera 1st AC), and Degenerate (Independent Film, A Camera 1st AC). As the A camera 1st AC, I managed the equipment and members of the department, and was a key person for communicating with the creators and managers of those productions. I am proud of my experience as a camera technician; we have many skills and talents that are applicable to other careers. We are technically savvy and adaptive to new technologies, and constantly looking for more efficient ways to accomplish tasks. Virtues like collaboration, punctuality, and the ability to solve problems under pressure come natural to us. We are detail-oriented perfectionists that always challenge ourselves to improve and grow.
