A recipient of this year's Brad Sousa Impact Fund, WorkSource Montgomery provides employment and training in high demand fields like AV and IT. While not a specifically AV focused organization, their mission to meet current industry needs helps them to develop career pathways that lead people to living wage jobs.

Core Principles and Foundation

Their foundational principles of contribution, accountability, performance, and impact, guide all of their business operations as well as program participants.

Community-Centered Approach

Mobile Job Center

WorkSource stays highly involved in the Montgomery County community through their Mobile Job Center – bringing resources directly into the neighborhoods that need them the most. This provides training, computers, phones, printers, counseling, job search tools, workshops, and so much more to people across the area. This helps to bridge the gap that many residents of Montgomery County experience when starting the job search process.

Comprehensive Services for Job Seekers

Some of the specific services they offer to jobseekers include resume help, career counseling, interview prep, credentialed training, aptitude tools, professional development, or anything else that can aid in someone's career journey.

SkillUp Montgomery

They also offer specialized programs, such as SkillUp Montgomery, which provides free, unlimited access to over 5,000 online training courses, or their Dual Track Re-entry Program which helps people within the justice system with job training and placement, with support during incarceration as well as post-release.

Employer and Business Support

In addition to helping job seekers, WorkSource Montgomery provides support to employers and businesses with hiring strategies, applicant screening, customized training, crisis support, apprenticeship opportunities, and grant writing.

Educational Partnerships and Youth Development

MoCo CAP (Montgomery County Career Advisory Program)

Beyond the job market, WorkSource works across Montgomery County Public Schools with their MoCo CAP (Montgomery County Career Advisory Program). This program acts as a career coach to help students explore different paths beyond their time in high school. From college to apprenticeships, they are able to bring in representatives from local businesses and offer information sessions on different industries and career paths, mentorships, and internships, all of which help students create a career path that suits their skills and interests.

Brad Sousa Impact Fund Support

People of all ages and backgrounds can benefit from the resources that WorkSource Montgomery offers and we are thrilled to be supporting their efforts.

With the support of the Brad Sousa Impact Fund, WorkSource Montgomery will launch a dedicated AV and technology focused LYFE (Launch Your Future Employment) cohort for young adults. This will allow for career exploration, hands-on experience, and pathways to internships and full-time employment.
