On Friday, Ballmer unveiled "The Halo Board" at the $2 billion Intuit Dome—a cutting-edge, double-sided video halo that spans almost a full acre, the largest ever built. Positioned high above the court, this 44,000 sq ft, 233 million pixel 360-degree display transforms the fan experience with its immersive and interactive features.

AV Innovations and Fan Interaction

The Halo Board offers elements never before seen in an NBA arena. Designed to envelop the audience, it includes unique corners such as "Coach's Corner," which displays real-time statistics and analytics, including player speed, play frequency, and even the mileage run by referees.

"From the beginning, Steve insisted the Halo Board should educate as well as entertain," said Gillian Zucker, CEO of Halo Sports and Entertainment, at the unveiling. The board features areas displaying player graphics, live social media feeds from fans, and a "Steve Cam" capturing Ballmer's courtside excitement.

During timeouts, fans can enjoy "Player 360" mode, focusing on individual player stats, bios, and charitable foundations. "It’s great for promoting personal initiatives," shared Clippers guard Terance Mann, who was the first example used for this feature.

The board also measures crowd noise levels down to a single seat and can launch T-shirts from built-in cannons

Countdown clocks scattered throughout the arena help ensure fans return to their seats on time, while an "Enter the Storm" simulation kicks off the second half of games with immersive sea storm sounds.

Comfort and Connectivity

Ballmer has made sure the Intuit Dome offers the best amenities. Each seat is equipped with power for charging devices and armrest controllers to interact with the Halo Board during breaks. This technology-forward approach ensures that Clippers fans enjoy a unique, high-tech experience.

"Having our own space and building our aura is incredible," said Mann. "It’s a fantastic situation for us players, distinct from sharing with the other team across town."

Take Away

The Intuit Dome, with its groundbreaking AV technology and fan-focused innovations, heralds a new era for the LA Clippers and sets a high standard for future sports venues.
