L'illa Diagonal shopping center is leading the way in innovation with a digital marquee that transforms the experience of its main entrance

L’illa Diagonal, one of Barcelona's most iconic shopping centers, has taken a significant step forward in innovation and sustainability by installing a digital canopy integrated into the ceiling of its main entrance. Designed and created by Lumalia Studio, this advanced digital lighting solution not only redefines the space's aesthetics but also enhances the visitor experience and reinforces the architectural identity of the center.
A digital marquee that fuses architecture, technology, and light art
The new digital marquee features a dynamic 210 m² ceiling, built with backlit tensioned fabric and equipped with over 32,000 high-resolution RGBW P82 pixels. This structure allows for the precise display of customized visual content, creating an immersive visual impact that engages visitors from the moment they arrive. Each component of the system has been carefully tailored, from the LED modules to the textile structure. Artec Studio handled the lighting design, while Lumalia Studio was responsible for the manufacturing, installation, and assembly of the marquee. Thanks to the ProtoPixel control platform, each pixel can be managed individually, enabling high-precision light effects that adapt in real-time to different events and marketing campaigns.

A living digital Canvas that transforms the entry experience
The marquee at L'illa Diagonal acts as a dynamic digital canvas, adjusting its lighting based on the time of day, current events, or specific marketing campaigns. This not only turns the entrance into a stunning visual display but also enhances the shopping center's communication strategy. Dynamic content creation and management were handled by Channel4you (LED DREAM group), ensuring that each projection aligns with L'illa's visual identity, transforming the entrance into a vibrant, ever-evolving space.
