Last week, a new high-tech entertainment content distribution eco-system service was launched in association with the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) in the National Capital Region (NCR).

The new service, developed by HRCP Research and Development, a Japanese technology company, enables content to be transmitted to mobile devices at speeds 400X faster than 4G without requiring an active internet connection. This technology can transfer a two-hour HD movie in two seconds. Demonstrations of the technology were conducted at Metro Bhawan with Vikas Kumar, Managing Director of DMRC, and officials from the HRCP and DMRC.

This service is designed to meet the needs of travelers and commuters. The video will play in HD mode once downloaded, with no buffering. Once tested and made operational in the future, this technology may be applied to all modes of transportation, including the metro, long-distance trains, air travel, and long drives.

The service will be accessed via a dongle (attached to a mobile phone) and a touch point (transfer device). Movies and games will be available on the app. The special dongles that enable such high-speed data transfer will be distributed to some DMRC employees and leading companies as part of this trial.

Depending on the feedback received, HRCP will try to make the service available for public use by the end of next year after the trials.

Eventually, the technology provided by dongles will be embedded in mobile phones, so users can download movies and games on their phones at lightning-fast data rates.
