Our most recent report, published at the end of Q42024, reveals a major bright spot for the pro AV industry. The experience economy and live entertainment in particular were clobbered by the pandemic. The road back has not been easy, but new data shows that spending on these sectors is now over and beyond pre-pandemic highs. And the path forward points ever upward.
The full report, accessible freely to silver and gold AVIXA members here, puts events and experiences under the microscope. It looks at multiple measures of the status quo, surveys research on consumer taste for such in-person activity, and data on overall spending on events outside of pro AV.
Important implications of this research include that events in the wider economy are seeing spending comfortably beyond their pre-pandemic highs, while pro AV revenue from live entertainment is only right around its pre-pandemic highs. Our analysis suggests that while this is disappointing in the short-term, it is long-term bullish. End users are spending cautiously now as the re-establish financial good health but will spend normally in the long-term. The full scope of research indicates this long-term positivity applies to the experience economy as a whole, which is why it's one of the leading sources of new revenue in our long-term industry sizing outlook (IOTA). In sum, the revenue lines continue upward for all parts of the experience economy despite the extreme challenges of the last five years.
