Case study: Improved experience at Chassé Theatre
Chassé Theatre automates ticket scanning with mobile kiosks
As one of the largest theatres in the Netherlands, Chassé Theatre in Breda welcomes thousands of visitors each week. With multiple performances each day, the theatre looked to optimise its entry process and reduce pressure on staff. Inspired by a similar solution seen in a German theatre, the theatre’s management initiated a project to bring innovative, mobile scanning kiosks to Breda – marking a new step in digital innovation for Dutch theatres. Continue reading to discover the solution.
The challenge: reducing staff dependency through automation
Traditionally, tickets were scanned manually using handheld devices operated by staff. This process worked but became increasingly labour-intensive. Especially with overlapping performances across several auditoriums.
The theatre needed a fully automated solution that could validate tickets independently, reduce the burden on staff, and support smooth guest flow. It also had to be intuitive, mobile, and aligned with the theatre’s visual and technical standards.
Innovating together: A compact and mobile scanning kiosk with built-in intelligence
Together with Prestop, the theatre deployed two mobile scanning kiosks, each featuring a 10-inch Android Panel PC by ProDVX, a Newland 3D barcode scanner, and custom-built housing. Battery-powered and Wi-Fi enabled, the kiosks are cable-free and easily movable between auditoriums.
The standout feature is the integrated LED bar on the ProDVX display, which instantly shows green or red for valid or invalid tickets—speeding up entry without staff intervention. A browser-based UI makes the system easy to deploy and maintain.

Faster entry and an improved guest experience
The mobile kiosks have enhanced operational efficiency and improved the visitor experience. During film screenings and youth-focused events, the kiosks significantly reduce waiting times and offer a smooth, self-service entry process. This not only eases pressure on staff but also aligns with the expectations of tech-savvy guests.
For performances aimed at older audiences, staff still provide support and a welcoming presence—especially when kiosks are positioned further from main entrances. By adjusting deployment based on audience type, Chassé Theatre achieves the right balance between automation and hospitality.
Thanks to the collaboration with Prestop and ProDVX, the theatre now benefits from a flexible, future-ready ticketing solution that supports both efficiency and guest engagement.
