Many young professionals are told by their families and their college counseling centers that the dream job may be found by "who you know" or who you meet in overlapping circles of alumni, acquaintances or mentors. The idea of traditional networking can be intimidating to many, but social media has eased and widened the potential sphere of networking opportunities, and even encourages communication and outreach between strangers.
