The career path for many of today's job seekers does not follow a linear, traditional model.  People not only take breaks for personal reasons between jobs or educational levels, but may also leave a position for legitimate purposes as we all strive to manage competing priorities and individual needs.  LinkedIn has recently introduced a feature whereby professionals can add a "career break" to their profile and positively represent or highlight skills and experiences obtained during that period.  LinkedIn encourages recruiters to embrace a candidate's life experiences and acknowledge that many use these career breaks to further develop specific skills and recharge and refocus. Accepting a candidate's career break without stigma may also result in the ability to attract and retain a more diverse workforce, especially inclusive of women and working parents.  LinkedIn hopes that this feature will help candidates "rewrite the narrative on career breaks." Has a "career break" helped you in your journey or have you observed a positive outcome of supporting a break within your team or organization?
