LG digital signage screens outdoor for cruise ships

LG has launched new DVLED technology, which can be used on cruise ships and other outdoor signage venues.  The new tech will be shown at an upcoming trade show in Florida next week (Seatrade).

Cruise ships are a cross-vertical covering travel, entertainment, restaurants and hospitality all in one.

In Brief Summary

  • Marine-grade DVLED technology
  • Salty air is not a problem
  • 6.2-millimeter pixel pitch and a 5,000:1 contrast ratio
  • 160-degree horizontal viewing angle

“LG’s marine-grade DVLED technology is the ideal outdoor display medium because it can produce bright images and has the contrast necessary for watching videos in direct sunlight. The GNEB is easy to maintain thanks to a module-based construction,” says Jake Benner, director hospitality, cruise & titness at LG Business Solutions USA. “Outdoor areas on cruise ships can now be outfitted with movie-theater sized displays, while providing optimal performance day in and day out regardless of how salty, wet or unpredictable the environment is.”

I just got back from a cruise and noticed there was not only the large movie screen but also smaller screens playing advertisement videos to music.  I never thought of how salty air could affect the screens. It's interesting to see what all is considered and see the solutions LG has worked on.

Really nice!! The cruise environment is very unpredictable, so that's as awesome solution!
