Many years ago, at a previous employer, a manager told me she wished for "robot employees" as she was struggling with the performance of one of her direct reports. We laughed about how much easier that would be, but of course, were kidding ourselves that would be a possibility in any reality. But now, with unbelievable advances in Artificial Intelligence spheres, the idea of replacing human workers with automated bots is not as far-fetched as we may have thought!
According to this recent article in NPR, there are upsides and downsides of using AI in both routine and non-routine tasks, and the success or likelihood of AI replacing human workers may depend largely on the job itself and the level of technical expertise or skill required. Have you implemented AI instead of a human function at your company? I'd love to hear any success or failure stories!
