I’m a has-been geek turned manager, turned executive, turned (hopefully) into leader.  I love technology and even more I love people.  So what I find really interesting is the intersection of people and technology…and in so many ways, that’s my definition of AV.

A University of Central Florida double-alum with a Master’s in Digital Media, Iulia Popescu is a content creator who loves bringing people together over shared interests.  As AVIXA's Coordinator of Digital Content, she produces articles on a myriad of technology topics. She has been working on virtual reality projects lately, transforming folk tales into VR narratives.

Started off in sound engineering in the late 90s then pursued a career in IT. After working in web development I returned to AV and have not looked back! I do at times pine to work more directly with the amazing technology available today to help create great AV experiences but I do get to see them being shared and celebrated! I look forward to seeing many of those examples on the Xchange!

25 years of Audio/AV/IT experience and a Masters in Cybersecurity

I am responsible for Global Industry Engagement for AVIXA, including all membership, councils, sponsorships, and engagement programs. Oversee global sales and account management programs including our global partner accounts. Member of Strategic leadership team with involvement in association operational management and product development to meet Member needs and deliver them profitably. This function engages AVIXA ProAV members across all segments and global regions to maximize Association membership growth, member engagement, and revenue.

Passionate in identifying and delivering the right resource to our members in the Pro-AV market from India & GCC countries to achieve their goals in Education , Certification, Standards and Market Research so they better utilise them for the development of their businesses.

I lead AVIXA’s APAC marketing and communications initiatives, which include member communication, vertical market events, educational programmes and AVIXA’s brand presence at the association’s trade shows in the region.

I look forward to making new connections on the Xchange and leverage digital as a medium to offer value to members and support the association’s commitment of being a hub for AV in the region.

Presently as Country Manager, AVIXA for India and GCC, I do aspire to support the AV & IT industry with  access to the resources that are most beneficial to the businesses and professional outcomes.

My focus will be to bring to the AV/IT community in the region, knowledge and skill development through AVIXA Education, Certification and Training Resources. I look forward to work closely with allied associations, industry groups and professional society in the region with a similar focus.

And my areas of interest and learning are indeed the Emerging Technologies (what we know as AI, Metaverse, Cloud, Industry 4.0, and the likes) and how they impact what we do in our professional and personal lives as Humans!
