According to a recent article in Fortune, the job market power dynamic has shifted back to employers, as more companies plan layoffs in the midst of a potential recession and mandate returns to the office.  However, for those individuals looking to change jobs, this study says that the primary reasons of toxic workplace culture, lack of flexibility, and concerns about layoffs and salary freezes are not deterred by the economic uncertainty. 

The data has trends by generation, gender, and race, but overall, does still reinforce that employees value work-life balance as consideration for a new job or staying at a current job.  As the author concludes, "Workers aren't going to let fear about the economy make them complacent, and if their current employer isn't cutting it, they're ready to look for one that will."
