When World Leaders Meet: The Network Behind the 2025 G7 Summit
Imagine being responsible for the technology infrastructure that enables communication between nine world leaders, with zero room for error. That was the reality for Proshow Audiovisual at the 2025 G7 Summit in Kananaskis, Alberta.
The G7 Summit required:
- Real-time interpretation into 10 languages across multiple remote locations
- Secure video feeds for world leaders, diplomats, and security personnel
- Broadcast-quality production connecting sites up to 60 kilometers apart
- Complete isolation from the internet for security purposes
- Zero tolerance for failure, as any network issue could impact global diplomatic communications
Oh, and one more thing: Proshow had just 75 days from contract award to go-live.
The solution involved approximately 40 network switches supporting over 1,200 individual components, including 184 monitors, 21 robotic cameras, and extensive interpretation equipment. The network had to seamlessly handle NDI video, Dante audio, and various control systems simultaneously, while maintaining absolute reliability.
The result? Zero downtime throughout the entire summit. There was not a single network failure during the main G7 sessions or the expanded outreach meeting.
But it wasn’t just the technology that made this project a success. It was the partnership. From overcoming supply chain challenges to providing remote expert support throughout the event, the collaboration between Proshow Audiovisual, SFM, and NETGEAR turned an “impossible” timeline into a resounding success.
As Mark Fisher, Proshow’s SVP of Engineering and Technology, put it: “The combination of the right product and the right support partnership makes seemingly impossible timelines achievable.”
