UN Buildings Projection Mapped in World Cup Campaign

Quince Imaging deployed 26 projectors in a display which highlighted how sport can promote sustainable development, peace, tolerance, inclusion and climate action

The United Nations headquarters in New York was illuminated by 26 projectors to celebrate the 2022 World Cup in Qatar and to launch a campaign highlighting how sport can promote sustainable development, peace, tolerance, inclusion and climate action.

The World Cup kicks off on 20 November and the project was organised by the Qatari government. Design studio 59 Productions and integrator Quince Imaging teamed up to project a 155m by 24m image on to the Secretariat building, a 17m by 85m image on to the curved facade of the General Assembly building and a 5m by 10m image on to the VIP terrace of the General Assembly building.

The technology involved included 26 Panasonic RQ 35K projectors, four Disguise Pro vx-4 media servers, two Sony HDC 3100 and two Panasonic UEI150 4K PTZ camera.

The projections showcased the launch of the UN’s Scoring for the Goals campaign and how sport is a great platform for promoting and achieving the UN’s 17 Sustainable Development Goals, which are designed to be a global blueprint for ‘peace and prosperity for people and the planet, now and into the future’.
