A digital transformation project has been unveiled in Frankfurt, Germany, at the newly refurbished flagship store of the retail brand Jack Wolfskin. In collaboration with PPDS and pilot Screentime, this project is a step toward a greener future.

Founded in 1981, Jack Wolfskin, a Germany-based brand specializing in outdoor clothing and supplies, has since become one of the biggest international suppliers and franchisers of outdoor apparel, footwear, equipment, and accessories using sustainable materials.

The brand’s name symbolizes its trailblazing spirit and regard for nature – a reference to the wolves that roam the wilderness in Jack London’s novel The Call of the Wild. And the company has certainly been leading the pack with its eco-conscious technologies, commitment to social responsibility, and forward-thinking designs.

Jack Wolfskin has motivated people to find that wanderlust and reconnect with the wilderness. The team at Jack Wolfskin also aspired to bring that same feeling of wanderlust for the outdoors into their stores. To make this a reality, they required an innovative solution.

So, Jack Wolfskin partnered with PPDS, the exclusive global provider of Philips digital signage, interactive displays, direct view LED, and professional TV products, to install a series of LED and digital signage solutions. The project includes a Philips L-Line 7000 Series dvLED wall and a 55-inch 4K Ultra HD Philips Q-Line digital signage display designed to highlight sustainability content.

The Philips 7000 Series LED’s design allows for panels to be removed and the wall to be reshaped. The Philips LED 7000 Series offers low power consumption without impacting performance, making steps toward a more sustainable future.

In fact, one of the main reasons why the L-Line 7000 was chosen was due to the series' engineering, designed to minimize power consumption, which not only lowers operating costs but also reduces environmental impact. At the flagship store, the immersive 7.5m Philips L-Line 7000 Series LED wall is mainly used to draw people inside and engage customers.

To complement the Philips L-Line 7000 Series dvLED wall, a 55-inch 4K Ultra HD Philips Q-Line digital signage display was strategically placed. The digital signage display is utilized to showcase the sustainability features of the store and its products. These Philips professional displays were integrated into the store's content system, including interactive touchscreens and seamless storytelling experiences that set the tone for adventure. You can even see a remarkable digital fireplace in the Jack Wolfskin flagship store via digital signage. Check out some pictures here.

With the help of PPDS and Hamburg-based integration specialist pilot Screentime, Jack Wolfskin implemented a comprehensive AV solution to transform its flagship location into a next-generation store.

According to this article, Damian Rodgett, CEO of pilot Screentime GmbH, said, "The combination of LED boards, standard digital signage screens, innovative touchpoints — such as the campfire — and touch tablets leave a lasting impression on customers at the POS, where competition is increasing in the highly competitive outdoor apparel sector. This is a good example of what is now the new benchmark in POS sales and marketing."
