What is NDI and why do Laia cameras include it as standard?
NDI built in as standard: why our cameras include it and what changes in production
The migration of audiovisual workflows to IP environments is an established trend in the industry. NDI has been part of that conversation for years, but its real adoption depends on one critical factor: where the protocol lives within the production chain.
At Laia, we made what we consider a strategic decision: integrating NDI natively into the C-Pro Infinity and Broadcaster Pro cameras. Not as an add-on, but as part of the product's core.
What does this mean in practice?
A single network cable for simultaneous video, audio and control. Automatic device discovery on the network. Ultra-low latency suitable for live production. Multi-camera scalability without reconfiguring infrastructure.
The result is a more agile workflow for streaming, hybrid meetings, educational environments and esports production alike.
To better explain why we made this decision and what NDI brings in practice, we've put together two videos approaching the topic from two complementary angles: the first covers the protocol and the technical decision, the second focuses on the operational impact across different production environments.
Both full videos and further technical details are available in our blog.
Do you use NDI in your productions? What capture or mixing software do you typically integrate it with? We'd love to hear about your experience.
