The Rise of AI in AV: Governance Is Now the Real Concern

Founded in 1453, Istanbul University is one of the oldest in the world. It is home to more than 69,000 students and its alumni included presidents, prime ministers, writers, musicians and scientists. The architecture of the university’s impressive main gate shows influences from the Roman and early Byzantine empires.
When the university’s biology sciences building needed a technology upgrade to provide connectivity for in-person and distance learning, Hall Technologies and Aselgrup were challenged with melding old-world style with modern-day facilities. The challenge was to provide the 27,000sq m building with a fully automated solution that could control content, audio and video, without relying on DSP mixers or video processors.
The project partners created the university’s first ‘smart’ building by equipping the 38 classrooms with Hall’s EMCEE200 devices connected to Epson projectors. Seventeen of the rooms were also connected with camera systems for accessible remote learning for students.
The EMCEE200 is a multi-view switching device primarily used to tile images of a PC, a lecturer’s laptop and classroom cameras, which has picture-in-picture and picture-over-picture features. The faculty used Shure stage microphones and wireless Lavalier microphones that connect to the EMCEE200 to live-stream the lecturer’s presentations.
Launched at ISE 2022, the EMCEE200’s functionality is well suited to managing the challenges inherent in video conferencing, collaboration, lecture and remote-learning scenarios, and live-streaming for YouTube, Facebook and OBS platforms. The seamless multi-view presentation switcher processes up to four 4K@60 video sources with zero latency and a built-in dual MIC mixer. The EMCEE200 can record a lecturer’s presentation to an external storage device, as well as offering USB3.0 4K capture to stream live without the need for additional hardware.
The solution has provided the biology sciences department with the control, audio and video facilities to maximize the learning experience for its students.

@HDBaseT Alliance , thanks for sharing. The EMCEE200 looks like a comprehensive solution that was well-suited for this #higherEd installation. @Camille Burch , can you give us a hint at what Hall Technologies has in store for us at @Integrated Systems Europe '23?
