I also forgot to mention another key reason is to creat a cyclical chain, from new product to end of life, the material can be returned to be recycled again after 10-15 years (or longer) for us to make the latest product of that time, using little extra raw materials to do so. I would suggest that any company selling goods can get in on this method, even without recyclable material, many products can be reconditioned to as new and re sold/deployed, adding another 5 years or more to its lifecycle. I believe one of our competitors D&B have a product refurbish service, albeit not recycled material, but with their standard wooden products, so it is starting to happen more and more.
