The audiovisual industry in Latin America is shaped by stories of hard work and passion. One of them is Margarita Reyes Canchola, CEO of G4 Audio y Video Interactivos, whose career reflects not only professional growth, but also a constant commitment to innovation, inclusion, and personal balance.

First Steps in a Fascinating Industry

Margarita began her career in the technology sector, working at LG as a sales executive. Her path shifted when she joined Microformas, where she was sent to an automation course with AMX in Dallas, Texas. That experience became a turning point.

Six months later, I was offered the opportunity to open the office in Mexico, and that’s how I began in the audiovisual world. We launched a training program for programmers and designers that laid the foundation for the market and for many companies dedicated to automation,” she recalls.

Her first major project was with C&A stores as they were entering the Mexican market. She also had the opportunity to meet founders of companies that are now global industry leaders, such as Extron, Lutron, AMX, and Kramer.

The audiovisual industry and its constant evolution truly captivated me,” she says.

From the Challenge of Entrepreneurship to the Pride of Building

The greatest challenge of her professional life was leaving the security of employment to create her own company.

I started with the desire to build a trustworthy company — and to do so as a woman in an industry where there were almost no women,” she explains.

The early days were complex. Assembling a strong team seemed almost impossible. But 14 years later, Margarita leads a well-established company that has overcome numerous challenges.

Today, I’m proud of what we’ve achieved as a team, both professionally and personally,” she adds.

Among her most memorable projects is the design and installation of the Nissan rooms at Torre Aleph in Mexico City.

It was an enormous logistical and coordination challenge, but thanks to constant communication with our team, suppliers, and brands, we delivered it on time and successfully.”

Perseverance and Vision

When asked which skills have been key to her growth, Margarita answers without hesitation: Perseverance, organization, following best practices, and staying up to date with technological trends.”

Using that formula, she has carved out a path for herself in a highly competitive industry, demonstrating that discipline and strategic vision are just as important as technical expertise.

A Woman Paving the Way in AV

At first, it was difficult because people didn’t trust my intuition or my vision,” she admits. Over time, however, she has earned the respect of her peers, and being a woman in a leadership position is no longer seen as an exception.

She has also actively promoted the inclusion of more female engineers within her company.

We’ve made important progress, and today women have more opportunities than ever to shine in this industry,” she says.

Her advice to young women who want to enter the field is clear: Prepare yourselves with courses and certifications, but most importantly, work as a team with men. Our strengths complement each other, and together we achieve better results.”

Balancing Personal and Professional Life

Discipline also defines her daily routine. Margarita starts her mornings early with meditation and exercise.

The way I begin my day determines how the rest of it unfolds,” she says.

Healthy eating and wellness habits are essential parts of her lifestyle. After years of constant travel and long workdays, she learned to better balance her time, especially after the pandemic.

Remote work helped me understand that you can be productive without always being in the office. Now I optimize my efforts and prioritize what truly matters,” she explains.

Her greatest refuge is yoga and meditation.

I’m a certified Kundalini yoga and meditation teacher, and that’s something I wouldn’t give up for anything. I even teach two weekly classes for groups of women, and it has been transformative in my life.”

Looking Toward the Future

For Margarita, the future of the audiovisual industry lies in collaboration.

I would like to see more partnerships between companies and brands — relying more on local teams instead of depending on foreign firms. That builds trust, reduces timelines, and benefits everyone,” she says.

Her dream project is to create an AV talent school — a space to attract young professionals, train them in new technologies, and prepare them for various roles within the industry.

Passions and Life Philosophy

If she had not pursued a career in audiovisual, she would have liked to design living spaces for older adults — not traditional nursing homes, but environments where they could continue developing their talents.

Her personal passions include hiking and travel. Connecting with nature is essential, especially for those of us who live in large cities,” she shares.

As a guiding principle in both her life and career, she holds onto one powerful affirmation:

Universe, show me the infinite possibilities to receive miracles in my life and be happy.”
