LG Electronics has recently acquired a stake in Mo-Sys Engineering, signaling the company's growing interest in enhancing its virtual production offering. As the demand for virtual production increases across industries, manufacturers are looking to expand their product portfolio to match. While LG already maintains a strong foothold in the realm of broadcast AV, the company seeks to provide an even more holistic set of solutions for enterprise-level media production.
Virtual production has become a commonplace fixture for media production at all levels, providing digital production practices another dynamic to enhance the broadcast experience for audiences. LG's investment aims to aid in the development of cutting-edge virtual production solutions, while ensuring those solutions seamlessly integrate with LG's current product portfolio. “Having LG’s support as we continue to innovate in the field of next-generation virtual production technology will enable us to enhance our R&D efforts, drive sustainability and create more efficient production solutions,”says Michael Geissler, CEO of Mo-Sys Engineering.
Virtual production offers a huge amount of flexibility in media production, across numerous industries. As these industries pivot to utilizing the capabilities of virtual production, we can expect to see providers and manufacturers follow suit. It's no surprise why; virtual production has been instrumental in finding an ideal middle ground for media, between the necessity of high-quality production value and the need for versatile solutions.
