It is an absolute honor to be invited as an inaugural judge for AV Awards Americas, featuring C-suite executives, innovators, and visionaries from across the AV multiverse! Here's a little excerpt from my latest promotions for their team!
How does it feel to be part of the inaugural judging panel for the AV Awards Americas?
It’s been incredibly affirming and validating to be invited as a judge for AV Awards Americas. Being able to give back to the industry that has given me so much is an opportunity I had to jump on immediately. Also being on the forefront of helping shape the future of the industry was very appealing
What advice would you give to companies and professionals across the Americas who want their entries to resonate with the judging panel?
In a world filled with artificial everything, I’ve begun to really value human authenticity and storytelling. Measurable real-world use cases would stand out for me the most as a tech manager, especially showcasing how you’ve deployed and onboarded your technologies to diverse stakeholders
AI is impacting every industry – how do you see it shaping the AV space across the Americas, particularly in terms of innovation and collaboration?
AI presents a paradigm shift not just in technology, but in how we view the labor force for generations to come. It should aid in strategic thinking and not hinder you from your natural cognitive abilities that make you...YOU! The main objective for AI in AV would be to foster a culture of collaboration, featuring anything from predictive maintenance to smarter and more proactive room technologies.
How have you seen the AV landscape in the Americas evolve in recent years – in technology adoption, collaboration, inclusion, or customer expectations?
I’ve said this a ton in my pro AV content journey, but there appears to be no gatekeeping in the AV industry. Seamless, white glove event experiences are what drives the industry toward achieving meeting equity. This can be seen in the essential offerings that messaging and video platforms provide, which 5 years were a pipedream and now an integral part of how we thrive at work!
What role do mentorship and professional networks play in helping AV talent grow and thrive across such a large and diverse region?
Mentors help you not just with sight, but with vision, being able to see what’s on the horizon. While growth mindsets are all the rage in buzzwordy, content-driven marketing, mentors and community allow for healthy challenges and stretchable moments that can help build your career for a lifetime. For me, with much guidance from leadership at my firm, I’ve become a bridge between our AI Champions and AI Task Force, something the pro AV nerd in me would have never seen coming!
