AVIXA Scholarship Relaunch: Empowering New AV Talent
Behind every immersive experience, seamless system, and groundbreaking event is a team of dedicated audiovisual professionals. If you’re interested in stepping into this dynamic world, scholarships are a great way to empower your studies.
That’s why AVIXA is thrilled to announce the official relaunch of the AVIXA Foundation scholarship program! The team has redesigned and simplified the program to expand access and ensure long-term sustainability. Let’s discover some of the scholarship program’s exciting, new changes.
A Meaningful Step Forward
This year, the AVIXA Foundation is giving 10 applicants a $2,500 award each. That’s a total of $25,000 going straight toward tuition and studies.
This financial support represents a meaningful step forward in rebuilding and growing the program. Education and training can be expensive, and financial barriers often keep highly capable individuals from pursuing their dreams. By offering these funds, we hope to relieve some of that burden.
A Legacy of Impact
This award honors the legacy of Michael Vergauwen, late COO of AVI Systems (FORTÉ) and long-time AVIXA board member.
Michael was instrumental in framing what would grow to impact nearly 500 students, with awards totaling upwards of $800,000 over time.
The Foundation is excited to dramatically increase the number of recipients who receive tuition assistance towards their AV career goals. Fulfilling this pillar of the Foundation mission creates more access to our industry than ever before.
Empowering Creative Pursuits
The Foundation’s highest priority is expanding opportunities for creative and technical people to see themselves in the AV industry. As one past scholar noted, “This scholarship really helped me at a time of need … and I’m forever grateful for having that opportunity.”
A testimonial hitting at the heart of why empowering creative pursuits matters.
The Michael Vergauwen Scholarship is therefore aimed at students completing studies at technical colleges, enrolled in traditional undergraduate programs, and even graduate school. Since innovation is a constant in the AV industry, candidates reflect that changing world. Past winners’ studies include audio engineering, coding for gaming & eSports, theater production, broadcast & film, digital media, events management, and more.
Apply Now!
While the structure of the program has evolved, its core mission remains unchanged. The AVIXA Foundation is firmly committed to expanding access to careers in the AV industry.
If you or someone you know is studying to enter the audiovisual industry, we encourage you to take advantage of this opportunity.
