About Robert Trebus

Director Global Sustainability | European Commission Climate Pact Ambassador | Expert in Sustainable Events & AV Technology

I am dedicated to driving the sustainable transformation of the professional audio-visual, entertainment, and live event industries across Europe and beyond. With over 20 years of leadership experience in pro AV, event technology, and media systems, I combine innovation, policy engagement, and circular economy thinking to enable real change across organizations and sectors.

As Director Global Sustainability at d&b audiotechnik GmbH & Co KG, I lead the group’s global sustainability strategy — integrating CSRD, EU Taxonomy, and circular economy principles into every part of our value chain. My mission is to demonstrate that high-performance technology and environmental responsibility can truly coexist.

Beyond my corporate role, I actively contribute to shaping international sustainability standards and policy frameworks. I chair the DIN Committee NA 159-01-08 “Sustainable Trade Fair, Congress, and Event Services”, serve as Board Member for Sustainability at the VPLT – The German Entertainment Technology Association, and participate in ISO/PC 250 and ISO/TC 354 — contributing to the development and implementation of ISO 20121:2024, the global standard for sustainable event management.

As a European Climate Pact Ambassador, I promote industry-driven climate action through initiatives linking CSRD, ESPR, and the Digital Product Passport. I am also a founding contributor to the Entertainment Technology Industry Alliance (ETIA) — a European platform uniting manufacturers, service providers, and venues to accelerate sustainability and innovation across the live entertainment sector.

I am a member of the Circular Economy Alliance and the European Remanufacturing Council, and collaborate with universities and research institutions such as RWTH Aachen, KIT, and TUM on life-cycle analysis, sustainable materials, and circular production models for the entertainment technology industry.

My earlier leadership roles with Panasonic, Avid, and Fairlight provided a strong foundation in innovation management, systems design, and global market development. As a former FIA motorsport race director and active musician (RTTY), I combine precision and creativity in everything I do.

Focus Areas:

• Sustainability strategy and transformation in AV & live event industries

• Circular economy, remanufacturing & carbon management

• Standards, certification & sustainable event frameworks (ISO 20121)

• Research collaboration & policy development

• Thought leadership, education & stakeholder engagement

I believe sustainability is not just about compliance — it’s about creating meaningful value for people, planet, and performance.
