This organization originally started in 1939 as the National Association of Visual Education Dealers or (NAVED). Then in 1949 NAVED merged with the Allied Non-Theatrical Film Association and together they formed the National Audio-Visual Association or (NAVA). The next change came in 1983 when the decision was made to become the International Communications Industries Association or (ICIA), which then in turn became InfoComm International in 2005.  Which brings us to our current iteration, the Audiovisual and Integrated Experience Association or (AVIXA), which we became in 2017.
