Near the end of a scheduled service window in a heavily used client boardroom, the technician confirms firmware on the system switcher needs updating to enable a new feature. What should they be considering before starting the update?

a. Start the update immediately with hopes it’ll complete before the next meeting because they know getting back in the room will be difficult to schedule.
b. Find client point of contact and try and talk them out of enabling the new feature because updating firmware can be problematic.
c. Defer updating the firmware for another service window allowing enough time to revert firmware and/or update other connected devices as well.
d. Try to find a faster network connection because the last time it was done the download took a long time to complete.

Which do you think is the best answer? Post your choice below and check back Friday to see if you got it right.

Update: The correct answer is - c. Defer updating the firmware for another service window allowing enough time to revert firmware and/or update other connected devices as well.

Since the update is for a new feature, probably unknown to the users, this should be delayed until it is discussed and a proper window can be scheduled, because we all know not all updates go well and every time, we risk it failing and where this one is up against a meeting, don't do it no.
