A higher education technology leader well versed in AV, broadcasting, live and recorded video production, and teaching. Experienced in the study of virtual environments, video games, and accessibility. Don is the current President of the Educational Technology Collaborative (ETC, etcollaborative.org), The mission of ETC is to provide leadership and a forum for information exchange to the providers of media content, academic technology, and support for quality teaching and learning at institutions of higher education. Don is also the Director of UCF’s nationally recognized Office of Instructional Resources, which is responsible for AV design, consultation, integration and engineering, project management, end-user support and training, and planning for the university.

As the Technical Integration supervisor at the Legislative Assembly office, I oversee a team of technicians who install and maintain all AV and television broadcasting equipment related to activities in meeting spaces, committee rooms and the Legislative Chamber. In addition to hardware support we do all of our own in house programming including Crestron, QSys and Peavey.  I have previous experience as an audio engineer in theatre, television broadcast and live events as well as general AV setup and installs for audio, video and lighting systems.

After serving as a Communication Consultant for the United Nations (UNDP), Matt would go on to complete a Master’s in Communication at Purdue University. In this current chapter, Matt leverages his passions for media and technology to serve ISDA as a thought leader in the public sector. He is also an AVIXA XChange Advocate, contributing to content that cultivates conversation in the pro AV community. 

I am a member of the AVIXA Market Intelligence team. I joined AVIXA in March 2024 as Senior Industry Analyst, which means I research and analyze data on the Pro AV industry across markets, geographies, solutions and products. I am responsible for content and analysis for the MOAR and IOTA. My background is varied as an IT analyst and consultant with more than 20 years' experience. In addition to building my knowledge in Pro AV, I have expertise in networking, IOT, and cybersecurity, and industry knowledge in telecom.

As a theatrical consultant, AV design engineer, and ETCP Certified professional with over two decades of experience, my passion lies in merging safety, technology, and innovation to enhance the entertainment and AV industries. I specialize in theatrical rigging inspections, AV system design, and entertainment electrical safety, providing expert guidance to venues, architects, and production teams. With a background in technical theatre and occupational health and safety, I bring a unique perspective to the intersection of design, engineering, and risk management. My work spans consulting for performing arts centers, designing AV solutions for commercial, community, and entertainment spaces, and educating professionals through standards development and training programs. I am known for my ability to translate complex technical concepts into actionable solutions, ensuring that technology and safety work hand in hand. As an ETCP Recognized Trainer and industry leader, I actively contribute to ANSI standards, and participate in AVIXA, ESTA, and USITT, sharing insights on best practices in entertainment safety, rigging, and AV systems.
