The arc of any company’s history is filled with milestones: anniversaries, revenue targets, the leap from a regional business to one that caters to a wider audience, and so on. The natural tendency for any firm — and most especially those in the universe of electronic technologies — is to always look forward, rarely reflecting on a given moment.
It can be very useful, though, to pause and recognize a specific accomplishment — especially the ones that are most impactful. Crestron is doing just that: Taking a few days to note the success of a brilliant solution at the moment its one-millionth unit is shipped.
October 21-25 is AV-over-IP Week at Crestron, an event dedicated to showcasing the power and versatility of our DM NVX® AV-over-IP technology just as we reach that number. But this event isn’t about resting on those particular laurels — the week is filled with training, webinars, an awards ceremony, and the launch of a new product in the line.
“This week will be packed with useful info for our dealer network and their clients, industry analysts, specifiers, press — literally anyone who’s interested in how AV-over-IP technology can create more engaging and impactful spaces,” says Brad Hintze, Crestron’s EVP of global marketing.
AV-over-IP Week: It’s Done with DM NVX
When Crestron rolled out our initial DM NVX AV-over-IP solutions in 2017, the power of this technology was immediately apparent. From there, it matured rapidly, evolving into what it is today, a wildly successful platform that brings a wide range of benefits to any installation:
- It provides the ability to deliver content to any screen, anywhere, at near-zero latencies — it’s a “real-time” solution.
- It unites video, audio, USB connectivity, and control on a single platform, with brilliant imagery and immersive audio.
- It meets security standards for even the most demanding government or enterprise deployments — with the certifications to prove it. (FIPS, JITC, NIAP)
- It’s eminently scalable, allowing you to leverage your existing 1G network infrastructure with both hardware and software. As your organization grows, you can count on nearly endless endpoints to scale content deployment.
- It’s “future-ready,” with firmware upgrades and valuable add-ons that keep you current with the best features and functionality, no matter what year you purchased your device.
Of course, to get the most out of all of those features, dealers must receive the latest and best training we can provide. Highlighting that ongoing education is a key feature of our AV-over-IP Week.
Empowering the Next Generation of AV Professionals with Crestron Training
The week offers the perfect opportunity to bring everyone up to speed on the progress Crestron’s training pros have made. “As the demand for high-performance, scalable, and flexible AV solutions continues to grow, the Crestron Technical Institute has responded with a new certification-based learning path,” says Crestron Senior Director of Global Training and Tech Documentation Chris Sgroe.
That offering — the Crestron Technology Architect (CTA) Certification Path — is a high-level credential offered by the Crestron Technical Institute, recognizing professionals who have demonstrated exceptional expertise in Crestron's advanced control and automation technologies. “The CTA certification program covers advanced topics in Crestron system design, integration, and optimization. As part of the CTA certification path, CTI has launched its DM NVX® Technology – The Power of AV-over-IP learning path,” Sgroe explains.
That path includes the DigitalMedia Certified Engineer (DMC-E-NVX) and DigitalMedia Certified Designer (DMC-D-NVX) courses. “By investing in Crestron training courses, AV professionals can enhance their skills, expand their knowledge, and ultimately position themselves as valuable assets in the AV industry, leading to greater career opportunities, client satisfaction, and long-term success,” says Sgroe.

Key Highlights of the DM NVX Technology Learning Path include:
- Foundational Knowledge: The learning path begins with the fundamental principles of AV-over-IP, including video compression and network infrastructure requirements. This ensures that participants have a strong understanding of the underlying technologies that enable high-performance AV distribution over IP networks.
- DM NVX System Design and Configuration: This training delves into the heart of Crestron's AV-over-IP offerings and explores the design, configuration, and deployment of DM NVX systems. Participants will learn how to select the appropriate DM NVX hardware and software components, configure network settings, and integrate DM NVX AV-over-IP with Crestron control systems for seamless end-to-end automation.
- Advanced Troubleshooting and Optimization: As AV-over-IP systems become more complex, the ability to effectively troubleshoot and optimize system performance is crucial. The DM NVX Technology learning path equips participants with advanced troubleshooting techniques, tools, and strategies to identify and resolve issues, ensuring maximum uptime and reliability for their clients.
- Certification and Validation: Upon completion of the DigitalMedia Certified Engineer and Design courses and practical exams, participants will receive their Crestron Certification. These certifications validate an individual's expertise in designing, deploying, and supporting Crestron's DM NVX AV-over-IP solutions, providing a recognized credential that demonstrates their proficiency to clients and industry peers.
The Crestron Technical Institute offers both in-person and virtual training options. CTI also provides on-demand online courses, enabling students to learn at their own pace and revisit the content as needed.
Supplement Your Knowledge with the Week’s Webinars — and a New
Product Launch
We’re also marking the week by offering a series of insightful webinars led by Crestron experts, all centered around showcasing the power and versatility of DM NVX technology across a wide range of applications. This technology can be deployed in commercial, government, educational, hospitality, marine, and residential applications — and that’s a partial list — to provide durable, reliable, best-in-class AV solutions to the most demanding specifiers and clients.
These webinars are designed to provide attendees with a wealth of ideas that can buttress the more technical training they’ve received. “We’ll be sharing real-world use cases, discussing the latest industry trends, and helping attendees discover how DM NVX technology can solve complex AV challenges,” says Hintze.
Some examples include “Unlocking Growth and Profitability — A Dealer's Guide to Selling, Marketing, and Promoting DM NVX Technology,” “Managing DM NVX Technology at Scale (Commercial),” “Audio-over-IP and PoE Speakers (Commercial),” and “The Future of AV-over-IP in Residential: Redefining Home Entertainment,” to name just a few. With at least one daily session on the books, dealers can unlock a world of inspiration drawn from real-world installations — you’ll learn how the thorniest problems have been solved by this technology.
In addition to the webinars, be on the lookout for a live-streaming event that week announcing the launch of a new addition to our line of AV-over-IP solutions. While we can’t give away too much just yet, this latest offering is truly the next evolution in this technology.
The One-Millionth Unit — and the Crestron DM NVX Technology Awards Program
We’ll also be officially recognizing a select group of our dealers with the Crestron DM NVX Technology Awards Program. As we mentioned when we first announced the winners:
These awards honor “the partners who have championed the DM NVX technology as it plays a vital role in contributing to the adoption of the platform,” according to the press release announcing a call for entries. This honor goes to projects and firms in a variety of verticals for their specific use of DM NVX technology in especially notable ways.
As Crestron President and CEO Dan Feldstein noted in that aforementioned release, “The DM NVX product line has always been an important part of the Crestron portfolio, and we look forward to celebrating this milestone with those who have embraced this solution, as their contributions have been at the heart of this success and intrinsic to this prodigious journey.”
Additionally, one firm will be awarded a gold DM NVX AV-over-IP unit—the one-millionth device off the line. We’ll announce the winning firm during the weeklong celebration. That firm has continually demonstrated its commitment to creating best-in-class solutions for its clients with Crestron AV-over-IP technology.
Ultimately, the purpose of the weeklong event is to educate and inspire. We’re proud of this technology, but we couldn’t have done it without feedback from our dealers and their clients — and for that, we’re always grateful.
