Mental wellness is often overlooked, yet it's incredibly important, both at home and in the workspace. The rise in depression and aggression is concerning, and as professionals in the AV industry, we must prioritize mental health. Our minds play a crucial role in our effectiveness at work.
I'd like to share my own experience on this topic. I was a shy and introverted person with low confidence. Despite numerous recognitions in cultural activities and my passion for piano during my childhood everything changed when I pursued sound engineering. I had the opportunity to work with the renowned artist Lesle Lewis as a sound recording engineer. Despite his support and expertise, my confidence dwindled due to feeling isolated and overwhelmed in Mumbai. I couldn't sustain my career in the film and entertainment industry.
Eventually, I transitioned to the AV industry, but my struggles persisted. It wasn't until I started practicing meditation and attending breath workshops that I saw a significant change. Over the past 6.5 years, meditation has been transformative for me.
I strongly urge everyone to prioritize mental health as much as physical health. Here are my recommendations:
Meditation: Practice at least 10 minutes of meditation daily.
Exercise: Engage in activities like yoga, breathing, walking, or cycling.
Stay Occupied: For me, focusing on studies and diving deep into AV has been effective. Thanks to AVIXA for their excellent resources, which I highly recommend.
Be Present: Staying in the present moment has been crucial, and the above practices have helped immensely.
Service Activities: Engage in activities that help others.
Your mental well-being is vital. Please take steps to nurture it.

Thank you for sharing your perspective on mental health, Jayaram. We often tend to ignore matters of the mind. But it is critical to address these issues before anything else in our daily lives.
Welcome. Absolutely
