When we discuss trends, we focus on global averages. This is a realistic and reliable approach, since the interconnected nature of the the international economy ties outcomes together. But news from China today offers a reminder that different countries are different. Specifically, China's central bank cut its interest rates to try to spur economic activity. This is in stark contrast to most other central banks, which are raising rates to fight inflation.
We note this in our longer reports, but you should always take a moment to compare local conditions to general trends before making major business decisions. What's true on average is often untrue in certain places! Multinational companies in particular must take care to tailor approaches to suit each business environment.
